Loved this in the NYTImes. We all know how telling stories to communicate science can go a long way in engaging the public, and this article really brings this home Recent study of jade in rocks suggests that "… those rocks are a vestige of an ocean buried underground. Rubies, on the other hand, appear in places where mountains formed from continental collisions, even if those mountains were eroded away millions of years ago…"
