ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Augment your visitor engagement with augmented reality.

Emerging Exhibits: Exploring New Models of Human Computer Interaction (HCI)

Dates: online April 9-22, 2012; in Toronto April 22-24, 2012 (blended model)
Two weeks of online learning (April 9-22) and three days on location at the Ontario Science Centre, Toronto (April 22-24)

Can you imagine a museum where "do not touch" signs don't exist? Interactive exhibits using touch and active exploration on the part of visitors are becoming an expected part of the museum experience, creating compelling and authentic experiences for individual and multiple users.

Creating an environment of deeper engagement for both visitors and museum staff alike will require you to use exciting new tools such as multi-touch tables and walls, motion-sensing spaces,
speech recognition, eye tracking and networked installations.
An understanding of the possibilities of augmented reality will transform your ability to create more engaging exhibits with stronger social interaction.

Instructor: Jim Spadaccini is the founder and director of Ideum, a leading-edge interactive exhbit, Internet and social networking firm for museums and organizations; former director of Interactive media at the Exploratorium in San Francisco; and Principal Investigator of Open Exhibits.

Registration deadline: March 12, 2012. Late registrations accepted if space permits.

Fee: CAD $681 (credit and non-credit options)
