Wanted: Pilot Sites for "Learning Together" - a dynamic new staff
training curriculum focused on family learning theory and practice!

Over the past three years, Boston Children's Museum and Chicago
Children's Museum have been working together to develop a modular,
flexible training curriculum intended for use by ANY museum interested
in engaging both kids and adults and enhancing the family learning
experience. Drawing on both research and our own museum experience,
we've produced about 40 training activities for groups of interpretive
staff. The exercises range from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours in duration and
come with background info, materials lists, facilitation guides,
activity templates, discussion questions, and more. Trainings cover
topics as diverse as child development, talking to parents, creating an
inviting environment, and adapting programs "on the fly" to meet the
needs of all museum visitors.

As we approach the publication date for this curriculum, we are seeking
museums large and small that would be willing to "test drive" some of
these training exercises with their floor staff. We'd send you the
training curriculum, and you would commit to trying out at least 6-8
activities with your floor staff and completing an evaluation for each
activity, as well as a short general evaluation once you've implemented
the trainings. We would ask that participating institutions commit to
piloting the activities and completing the evaluations by October 31,
2011.

If you're interested in learning more and/or being a pilot site, please
