Precise aiming of the dishes is a critical factor. Maybe the dishes should
be fixed. Otherwise, you could maybe just use one dish as a listening device
for eavesdropping on distant conversations...
Years ago I remember doing it successfully at home across a room with two
umbrellas balanced on chair-backs, with a ticking wristwatch hung from one
umbrella handle and a cardboard tube for listening through beside the other
umbrella. Because, if the dishes are small, you can't have people standing
in front of them to speak and listen. Precisely locating the focal point of
each 'dish' is also critical. It is halfway between the centre of curvature
and the centre of the 'dish'.

Give people facts and you feed their minds for an hour.
Awaken curiosity and they feed their own minds for a lifetime.
