Hello List-Serv Folks,

I wanted to connect with anyone who has ever tested the Ant Pheromone
Experiment either at your science centre/museum or for your own personal
interest. I am interested in connecting with anyone who has explored ant
pheromones in their institutions or for their own personal interests.
Supposedly
it is possible to obtain ant trail pheromones, draw a path using these
chemicals, which ants will then follow. Has anyone tried this as a
demonstration or drop-in program? I’m struggling to find an adequate
protocol online that doesn’t leave me asking more questions about procedure
and ethics.

With that in mind, if anyone has tried to make this happen, it would be
great to gain some insight into the following:

   - a) Where did you source the pheromone from?
   - b) Where did you get your ants from?
   - c) What did you do with your ants after?
   - d) How did you physically present this project? i.e. tank,
container, table top (hopefully not a table top)
   - e) Where there any ethical implications that you had to run through
   your institution?
   - f) What do you wish you had known before you embarked on this
   experiment?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Claudia Bustos
