Yeah, no kidding. We serve food and with the exception of cookies,
it reminded me of locusts...
Seriously, though, we do giveaways, we have samples of curriculum and
activities we have developed, we have samples of things that program
participants build. We have Arthur Ganson come in (to help us pump
school interest in participating in our annual FAT (Friday After
Thanksgiving) Chain Reaction (think Rube Goldberg...). He is a
gestural artist/engineer and was an MIT Artist in Residence for years.
Also, it helps to speak with curriculum coordinators ahead of time,
and send out brochures, flyers, letters of invitation (we send out a
whole packet). Our educator night attendance went up dramatically
once we started really marketing aggressively, particularly to
districts who have visited before (we get great word of mouth).
