As Becky recalled below, we did an exhibit a number of years ago, and still
maintain it, of food rotting in a refrigerator. The refrigerator was merely
a prop (not working) for the rotting fruit and bread. Visitors are astounded
as they open the door and see the rot. As I mentioned, temperature will only
have an effect on the rate of decay not the final rot. And light will have
no effect as these microbes are not photosynthetic.
