ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

We are considering temporarily closing our Science Center for 1-2 weeks
during a slow month this fall, in order to deep clean, install some
modest new exhibits, renovate/inspect current exhibits, and other small
item projects. We have never closed for any period longer than 1 day in
the 10 years we have been open.

I know many museums and science centers close for extended periods for
major renovations, but what about general yearly maintenance? I am
aware some centers close for 1 or 2 weeks for such maintenance. What is
the practice for everybody on this listserve when it comes to closing
for such small project maintenance and repairs of your center? Is it
yearly? Is it every 2 years, or 5 years? Is it for 1 week, 2 weeks, or
more?

Any and all input is greatly appreciated, as always. Thanks for your
expertise and wisdom.
