Renewal is an interesting problem. I wonder if anyone has
devised a plan or scheme to determine when exhibitions have outlived
their use from the visitors perspective which is implied in Peter's
"They are failing in their inspiration/education role"?
I'd suggest another concern: that the science/technology of the
exhibition has be surpassed by new developments/discoveries.
