ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

The Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) is pleased to announce that the Geological Society of America (GSA) is partnering with the ASP for a national meeting encompassing two symposia: “Earth and Space Science: Making Connections in Education and Public Outreach” for science education and public outreach professionals, and "Cosmos in the Classroom," for introductory astronomy instructors from colleges, universities, and senior high schools around the country.

The meeting will be held on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder beginning with the Sunday evening welcome reception at Fiske Planetarium on August 1, and will run through August 4. A weekend teacher workshop featuring lunar science and the ASP’s Galileo Teacher Training program will run during the weekend before (July 31 and August 1.)

The meeting provides an excellent venue to gather professionals in earth science, space science, and other science disciplines to meet, share their work, and learn from the work of others to make connections, forge collaborations, and advance efforts to create more integrated science education approaches to serve our audiences. The speaker lineup will include Dr Alex Filippenko of the University of California at Berkeley speaking on “Dark Energy and the Runaway Universe,” and Dr. Susan Solomon of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on the challenges of global climate change. Plenary panel discussions will engage EPO professionals and college astronomy instructors on how they can most effectively meet science education needs, and will engage EPO professionals in different science disciplines on how they can integrate their efforts to serve schools and the public.

Abstracts are welcome for:
* one-hour hands-on workshops
* poster papers
* brief oral presentations
* special interest group meetings.

Note that the deadline for abstracts is April 23, and the early bird registration deadline is April 30. Details, registration forms, abstract submission forms and lodging information can be found at: http://www.astrosociety.org/events/meeting.html.

Come join us for lovely summer days in the mountains to make the connections that can advance the work of us all! We look forward to your participation in this milestone meeting, and we thank the many co-sponsors who are helping to make the meeting possible.
