Hi Anna,
Two minutes ago I finished writing a blog post about the Denver
Community History Museum- they had a recent call for entries to their
neighborhood to "mummify something you would like to preserve".
While this is from a completely different context, why not have your
students oil and mummify something of their own? That's sure to create
a lot of tactile fun-- not to mention having an artifact of their own
when done.
