My observation was about this comment. I think the available scientific
evidence shows that we *are* living longer and healthier lives in general
(certainly far better than pervious generations). Things like
vaccinations, chemotherapy, and farming are all capable of enhancing
individual reproductive success (and certainly general reproductive
success - as evidenced by the planet heading for 10 giga people soon)
