We recently had a very successful art installation entitled "The Dirty Dozen: 12 Artists and a Ton of Trash" featuring the found object art of 12 local artists. We used our in house knowledge and contacts to reach out to the artists, making it clear that we are a children's museum so the pieces shouldn't be too fragile etc. What we got was amazing, and the visitors really enjoyed it. And so did the staff! It was relevant (reuse and recycling), and interesting. Some of the pieces were just gorgeous (a vase made of photo negatives), some were silly (underwear made from soda cans). Good stuff.
