Hi all, I'm new to this list. I'm the president of a non-profit computer
user group called MARCH -- that's "Mid-Atlantic Retro Computing Hobbyists"
-- and we're building a computer museum in Wall, New Jersey. Aside from
temporary exhibits at various shows and conventions, most of the people in
my group don't have any professional experience in designing / administering
museums, so we're very much in "wing it" mode. Plus we all have day jobs;
this is purely a volunteer passion for us. Meanwhile our budget is
miniscule. So, by joining this list, I hope to learn some real-world advice
and tips about how to run a small museum. We're also very interested in
rescuing any display cases, etc. that might otherwise be thrown away. Last
but not least, since we're a group devoted to collecting and preserving
antique computers, we're always looking for those too! Almost anything from
the 1940s to the 1980s is of interest to us.
