Perhaps it is good to think about just what this "LASER" thing is:
A source of intense, monochromatic, coherent light.  Monochromatic generally means:
No Color.   I really think you need to look at high resolution document cameras.
With a camera, the acquisition process is very quick, typically a fraction of a second.
A pair of cameras will give you a stereoscopic image that may be used to record the object
(sort of) in 3D.  There are some reasonably good 3D adapters that work with standard
computer video displays.  If people keep pushing, eventually we'll all have color holographic recorders
and be living in the future.  This sort of thing is no problem on StarTrek or even StarWars.

Hold out some money and someone will eventually sell you something.
