Dear friends.
As an official part of IPY, the ASTC-IGLO project will try to be as present
whenever possible at the several launch events in 2007. IPY has already made
some decisions on what they want to see happening on March 1, 2007 all over
the world. The education department has designed activities to be done in
schools, based on experiments with ice (see:
http://www.tmag.tas.gov.au/education/edudownloads/IPY%20launch%20education%2
0flyer%20TMAG.pdf). Science Centers should have an important role in the
IPY, and for this launch possibly propose other and additional activities
with ice that are typically science center focused.
I would appreciate your ideas on the best kinds of activities and
demonstrations with ice for science centers so that we can propose them to
our members. As you probably know, we will meet for a RAP session at the
Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium on January 12 and 13 to discuss,
among others, these types of activities. Your input prior to this process is
very welcome as well.
Greetings,
Walter Staveloz
