We just had a Fogscreen, www.fogscreen.com , in our shop for evaluation
the other week. It was very cool. Setup was pretty easy, but for
permanent installations you will need a water supply. The system does
use ultrasonic humidifiers to create the "fog" and no matter what anyone
says that means that their will be some condensation. For that reason I
would recommend putting in a flooring/drain system under the screen that
will keep this from being a problem. That being said, the fog does feel
dry to the touch. Interestingly this system is rear projection and a
different image can be projected from each side. We tested it with a
3500 Lumen projector under regular lighting conditions and dim light
conditions. Under dim light it was pretty amazing and under regular
lighting it was still impressive. They recommend a 4000-5000 lumen
projector. We found that having a darker colored, uncluttered background
also helped. We found graphics with high contrast to display better then
video with low contrast, even text bigger then 1" was readable. The
screen size is about 7' x 5' and it is very cool to be able to walk
though the screen and have the image flow around you. We will be doing
the biggest Fogscreen install to date at the E3 video game show in LA in
May. They are a Finnish company and we have been dealing with their US
rep Brian Forth, who has been very responsive. The screen we demo'ed is
being installed at the Museum of Water in NYC. I can give you a contact
there if you are interested. Let me know if you have any other
questions.
