Position: Senior Exhibit and Program Developer

Department: Exhibit Services
Reports to: Director of Exhibit Services
 
Summary
The Franklin Institute is seeking a full-time Senior Exhibit and Program
Developer to be responsible for developing innovative science and technology
experiences that engage visitors and communicate educationally sound
content. Responsible for the creation of the project goals and objectives,
organization of the project concepts, and the projectıs creative content.
Will lead project teams composed of other developers, protoypers,
researchers, designers, consultants, and advisors through the educational
and content development of select projects. Actively pursues new educational
approaches and techniques, identifies new and cutting edge scientific
advances and develops projects which bring new discoveries and techniques to
the visitor. 

 
Job Requirements 
Applicant should have a Masters degree (minimum) in a science or related
field or relevant experience, 5+ years museum experience including acting as
primary developer on at least 3 major projects. Exceptional writing,
presentation, and organizational skills. Imagination, humor, passion for the
visitor, passion for the subject matter.

Position: Exhibit Designer

Department: Exhibits

Reports to: Director of Experience Design

 
Summary
Responsible for providing design for major projects and/or support in 3D
portion of design department. As a member of the design effort for a
specific project, provides imaginative design solutions and ability to
communicate to the team i.e. written, verbal, sketches, models, etc.
Supports the development of clear, timely construction documents,
instructions, and specifications. Works closely with exhibit and production
staff as well as outside contractors to insure on-time, on-budget, fully
functioning exhibits. Follows through with project post opening to insure
clear understanding from visitors as well as fully operational exhibits.

 
Job Requirements
Bachelor degree in industrial design, interiors, architecture, or equivalent
discipline, 2+ years experience in exhibit design. Excellent design and
communication skills, sketching and/or writing. Expert in drafting and
construction techniques. Expert knowledge of Macintosh computers;
Vectorworks, QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, etc. Knowledge
of codes, educational theory, materials, and procedures. Committed to the
visitor, good team player, attention to details, and a good sense of humor.
Portfolio required.

Position: Graphic Designer

Department: Design

Reports to: Director of Graphic Design

 
Summary
The Franklin Institute is looking for a graphic designer with 3-4 years of
experience. Job responsibilities include design of various print materials
including press kits, brochures, newsletters, postcards, ads, and
invitations as well as museum signage projects. Coordination of assigned
projects includes estimating, production, proofing and archiving.

 
Job Requirements
EGD background in design, production, and documentation of environmental and
exhibit signage projects a plus.
