Hi Pete,
We've recently deployed three MedeaWiz DV-66 video players for
looping videos in our NanoZone exhibit.
http://www.medeawiz.com/products/Dv66.htm
They're only about three weeks old, but we're pretty well satisfied
so far. They do have a couple of quirks, though:
1. They ship in "menu mode," which is what you would use for a
button-activated kiosk (you have to add an extra interface module,
the DV-66K, to get the button input into the DV-66). In order to get
them into "repeat mode," which is what we wanted, you have to open
them up and flip a dip switch. This is not a big deal, but it's
poorly documented in the product manual and required some extra
investigation when we installed them.
2. Similarly, switching between VGA and component video outputs
requires opening the unit and flipping a dip switch. Again, not a
big deal; again, poorly documented.
3. The audio output of these units is noticeably lower than that of
the DVD players they replaced. This has become a problem in one of
our applications: we were just using the speakers of the TV on which
the video is playing (one of the early consumer LCD TVs); we'd needed
to turn the volume all the way up even with the DVD player, and now
it's too quiet.
At any rate, assuming these test out over the next few months, we're
looking forward to replacing all of our DVD players on the floor with
these little gizmos, and we're also looking forward to trying them
out in button-activated applications in the future.
Our vendor was Impart Inc; contact person was Peter Babler.

Hope that helps!

>>2) What other MPEG players are being used and how are they working?
