Karen,
Most large retailers can do amazing customer analysis just using zip
codes. Likewise every major metropolitan newspaper can give you a
reliable report on the demographics of their customers based on zip code.
Talk to your newspaper and see if they would share their analysis with
you. We got into ours by finding the GIS users group and working with
them. Most ticketing systems have the ability to take zip codes in as
information. just asking the zip code when you sell a ticket doesn't
affect the wait in line. School systems will give you the list of their
free and reduced lunch schools and all school systems have good
demographics.
