Just a couple points of historical clarification, the Experiments In the
Future of Reading exhibit was originally designed by Xerox PARC along
with Terry Murphy of Exhibit Engineering,
http://www.exhibitengineering.com/ . The last time I was involved with
it ASTC was managing it as a traveling exhibit, but they may have sold
it off. The Reading Wall as is was called won an ID Magazine gold award
when it was first built. Later versions of it were built by Folio (now
closed), Lynch, Onomy Labs (which includes former PARC employees) and a
number of other companies. In my experience with these displays over the
last few years I have found that they are great alternative to static
timelines, and are very intuitive to use. One of their greatest assets
is the ability to easily add more information or extend the timeline
into the future.

Yes, that is a device that is now sold by Lynch exhibits, I think
they call it an iWall. It was designed along with onomy designs from
palo alto, who were the creators of the Experiments in the Future of
Reading exhibit. It was a fine exhibition, and apparently is living
in storage now somewhere. Where do old traveling exhibitions go to
retire?
