Chris,
The Edgerton Explorit Center uses the experiential learning cycle as a basis
for our enrichment programs. These programs are 90 minute challenge based
activities centered around the Nebraska state science standards that are
required for reporting progress. We utilize a four point sequence -
Introduction, Planning, Accomplishment, Reflection - this is an adaptation
of many theories that we have aligned to a four step problem solving method
and a four step scientific method. The roll of the facilitator includes 1)
setting a positive climate for learning, 2) clarifying the purpose of the
learners, 3) organizing and making available learning resources, 4)
balancing intellectual and emotional components of learning (KEY to
Success!), 5) sharing feelings and thoughts to stimulate reflection.
I would be glad to share more information if you are interested.
Thank You
Chad Johnson
Director of Education
