I recommend a solid floor, sloped for drainage, usually concrete. We
are getting a new poured epoxy floor over our concrete next week- whoo
hoo! The usage of the exhibit was so high that painting the concrete for
good looks was happening every 4 months. I've only every heard of
maintenance burdens with grates.
The San Jose Discovery Museum has an inspiring water exhibit about a
year old with some really cool stuff. I believe it also has a concrete
floor with an aggressive texture and I know they power wash almost
everyday. They'd be good to talk to for another perspective.
