I also downloaded a copy of SketchUp earlier this year, and was very  
pleased.  Within three hours of the download, I had a to-scale mock-up  
of the gallery I was working on.  Very cool.

I recommend it for architectural layouts.  SketchUp has some unique  
features that make it a joy to use.
However, it's rather limited for detailed exhibit design, and is  
certainly no substitute for real CAD software.
