Hi
I am a new post-doctoral researcher at King's College
London. My research has focused on the teaching
behaviors and rationales of science museum educators.
At the moment, I am in the process of starting a new
study that builds on these findings, and would
appreciate help from the ASTC community.
This new study inquires about the professional
identities of museum educators. The questions are
still a work in progress, but here is a rough draft:
1. How do museum educators perceive themselves in the
education profession?
2. How do their teaching and science backgrounds
influence their professional identities?
3. How do their professional identities affect their
education philosophies and practices?
My question to the ASTC community pertains to the
dialogue and research that has taken place that may
have addressed these questions or topic area. Have
these questions & topic been explored in the museum
practitioner community? I have not found anything
written on this topic in the science education and
general education research literature, but realize
that this doesn't mean it has not been explored. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Lynn
