I am not the expert on the stuff, but. . .
We had someone change the lighting once so that it was much more direct on
the film. The film was never able to cool off enough for handprints to make
a visible difference.
The film also comes in different sensitivities, requiring different amounts
of heat to make visible changes. Are your hands too cold?

Subject: Piezoelectric Question

Can piezoelectric film "go bad"? We acquire an exhibit that had a large
surface area of piezoelectric film: it is intended for younger visitors to
make handprints on it that slowly disappear. It suddenly stopped working.
Can direct sunlight affect the film? Magnets? Any ideas on how to get it
to make images again?
Thanks.
