     I would also be interested in receiving an electronic copy of the
teacher web use report ([log in to unmask]).
     My evaluation work is with teachers nationally (including NY state where
I live).   I have observed that the NY curriculum is more rigid and
controlled than most states, especially on the high school level with Regents
requirements. As teachers use websites to obtain support for lessons, they are looking
for materials that match their local curriculum standards.  So in the
particular, the NY teachers might differ from the rest of the nation, but in the
general, they are having the same problems in their schools as the rest of the
country.   By my observation and evaluations, NY teachers   use websites in
similar ways to teachers in other states.
     To add a bit of research-based info to the discussion, I recently
completed a report of use of an existing web site associated with a nationally
broadcast PBS science series. Respondent teachers were part of a list of thousands
who had opted into an e-mail list for the website.   K-12 teachers reported
visiting the website typically (1) to obtain curriculum ideas (35%) as in
teacher guides, program quizzes, lesson plans; (2) to gather science information for
background in teaching topics (31%); (3) to preview upcoming shows (17%); (4)
to look for video segments to use with their classes (6%); (5) to satisfy
their personal interests (6%); (6) to review the site as a resource to which they
could send their students (2%).   Beyond this tidbit of information, the
report is not available for distribution - sorry.
