Conociendo Tu Cuerpo Health Science Education Coordinator
The Self-Reliance Foundation/Acceso Hispano seeks applications for a
bilingual (Spanish/English) Conociendo Tu Cuerpo Outreach Coordinator for a project
based in Washington, DC. Conociendo Tu Cuerpo is an NIH-SEPA project that will
use hands-on health exhibits, community outreach, and media to increase health
literacy, interest in health/biomedical research or education careers, and
family involvement in science education. A brief description of qualifications
and responsibilities for the position is provided below.

Conociendo Health Science Education Coordinator Description
Qualifications:
B.A. or higher in education or health field and teaching experience (in
school, community or health organization).
Multicultural experience.
Spanish/English fluency.
Translation skills – English to Spanish – desirable.
Good organizational skills.
Expeirence in working with community organizations.
Confidence in making presentations to large groups.
Primary Responsibilities
Works with D.C. area science education coalition to plan and implement
festival events and family health science events.
Identifies additional health organizations and health education providers in
the Washington, D.C. area to recruit to coalition.
Moderates project listserve.
Works with I&R staff to add D.C. area and national health education providers
to the database.
Recruits and supervises undergraduate and graduate Latino students for the
Conociendo Tu Cuerpos Health Science Fellows program.
Recruits and supervises undergraduate student interns for CLC/CTC program.
Works with Science Advisor to design quarterly Family Health Science page.
Works with Public Health Educator to develop content for radio programs.
