Though we've used metal halide (MH) lamps – and have a
very favorable opinion of them for specific uses –
we've never used them in track fixtures. I'll be
interested to hear other people's experiences.
MH bulbs are efficient and they're dimmable.
Is it really true that 70W PAR30 lamps (e.g.)
can't be dimmed?

Does anyone have experience with metal halide track fixtures in exhibit
galleries? The metal halides are said to be "green" because they use
a lot less energy than conventional incandescent fixtures, but they are
not dimmable, which means the only way to change light levels is to
relamp the gallery. Have any of you guys got opinions positive or
negative about thhis issue? Thanks for the advice,
