I doubt that Mr. Wilber's writing is likely to bring about any
reconciliation among those who are already divided on these issues. A look
at the readers'
reviews on web pages of on-line booksellers reveals that opinions of Mr.
Wilber's scholarship, clarity and insight regarding science and religion
fall
into two strongly divided camps: those who think it's shallow rubbish and
those
who think it's brilliant (and yes, my review is one of the most strident
among the former). As close as I can tell from most reader/reviewers, the
divergence seems to be along the lines of science backgrounds on one side
and
non-science backgrounds on the other. That doesn't seem much different from
what
we already have.
