ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

At the Bay Area Discovery Mueum we charge the same rate for children and
adults. It simplifies our signage, but doesn't necessarily make life easier
for front desk staff. We track what portion of our visitors are adults and
which are children. Here's a typical exchange:
Visitor: Five tickets please
Staff: okay. How many adults and how many children?
Visitor: but they're all the same price?
Staff: yeah, but we need to keep track of it.
Visitor: oh. Two adults and three children.
Multiply that by 200,000 visitors per year, and it could be an argument for
having different prices.
I haven't heard of any visitor complaints over having the same price for
adults and kids, although some have complained that toddlers should get in
for free. We explain that they are part of our target audience!
