Dear Colleagues,
Here at the Space Telescope Science Institute (the Hubble Space Telescope's science home), we are conducting a three-day workshop beginning TODAY that will feature a rather illustrious roster of scientists, engineers, and astronauts presenting their thoughts about what NASA's return of human presence to the Moon could mean for astrophysics. I expect that many of the talks could be interesting to a broader audience than would more narrowly-focused talks of a typical scientific meeting.
If you'd like to find out whether that's true, you can watch the presentations live via webcast beginning TODAY at 9AM Eastern. (Don't think about attending in person; it's sold out.) The home page for the meeting is here:
http://www.stsci.edu/institute/conference/moon
That page has links to the program schedule and to background reading.
You can find the webcast here:
http://www.stsci.edu/institute/center/information/streaming
It may be that this meeting will one day be remembered as seminal. Or maybe not, but do you want to take that chance? :-)
Apologies in advance if the interest in this exceeds our webcast transmission bandwidth. The webcasts will be archived for later viewing as well.
Sincerely,
John
