Does anyone who maintains a leaf-cutter ant exhibit have a source
for the ant colonies? Any "leads" would be appreciated.
Two of the main suppliers (Museum of Life and Science in NC, and the
Cincinatti Zoo)
have stopped or slowed-down providing colonies.
Apparently it is now a big(ger) deal to transport leaf-cutter ant
colonies
into the U.S. because of post 9/11 security and import issues.
Well, there's an unintended consequence of "homeland security"!

When we worked with leaf cutter ants the best source was our local
university. They brought them over and explained them to our visitors!
