Hello Phil,
you might like to try a glue called "Goop", manufactured by Eclectic
Products.  It is flexible and seems to adhere to most materials (including
fingers!).  It is silicone based, and in the U.S. contains Toluene (Canadian
formula contains perchloroethylene - a carcinogen - guess we should be
concerned with that here in Canada.)
