Maria,

This is an interesting coincidence but I saw just the thing for
making drinks glow in the dark recently. Do you have an IKEA nearby?

Two days ago while in an IKEA I saw that they had a new product for
summer outdoor dining fun.
It's a small plastic "coaster" with 3 different colors of LED lights inside.

When you put your glass down on it the three little LED lights light
up in succession so your drink glass acts like a fiber optic channel
and glows red blue green. Take your glass off and it goes dark
again. The light level is not too bright anyhow so I don't think it
will interfere with the telescope viewing. It is cordless so you
need to install 3 IKEA aaa batteries per coaster.

Sorry but I don't know the exact name for this product - you might be
able to find out more at the IKEA website.
