The timeline in "Memory" (an Exploratorium rental) seemed to work pretty
well. It lists big events over the last 100 years. Its best feature, in my
opinion, is a small podium in front of it with pencils and post-its so
visitors can add events from their own lives or memories. By the end of 3
months at our museum, the timeline contained about as much
visitor-contributed information about their own lives and histories as it
had of "official" history, and the presence of postits added visual and
behavioral variety and texture that most timelines lack.

I am getting conflicting information regarding Timelines in exhibits.
Do visitors like timelines?
Do visitors connect/understand/read timelines?
What makes a successful timeline?
Are there papers, evaluations, etc., that you would recommend reading?
Thank you,
Scott
