Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

I did one a few years ago.  The teacher took a sabbatical, but stayed
on the district's books so she could continue to get  her benefits
(retirement payments, seniority, etc.).  They paid her, we got billed
by the district and reimbursed them.  The teacher was recruited
competitively, around a particular content area.  She wrote
curriculum, developed a program to take back to her school district,
ran teacher and school workshops, etc.
