Job Posting for The MIT Museum
EDUCATION COORDINATOR, MIT Museum, to be responsible for the
conceptual and intellectual development and implementation of on- and
off-site MIT Museum education programs. Will assist the director of
exhibitions and public programs in the development of long-range
departmental plans, policies, and programs; work as part of an
educational programming team to identify and develop appropriate
program opportunities for school and general audiences; work with
curators and faculty, researchers, and students on content
development of programs; work with museum staff, faculty, alumni/ae,
and students on the delivery of programs; ensure that program content
and interpretation is consistent with the Museum's mission and goals
and meets best practices; and organize large-scale annual events and
weekday, weekend, and evening programs. Will also promote, book, and
implement programs for middle and high school students, youth and
community organizations, human services providers, etc.; promote,
book, and implement annual summer teacher professional development
programs; act as liaison for a variety of groups; and assist with
general audience programs as needed.
REQUIREMENTS: undergraduate and graduate degrees in a relevant field;
a minimum of three years' experience in museum education and program
delivery to school, family, and community audiences; and familiarity
with audience evaluation techniques. Must show a considerable degree
of creativity and initiative and have excellent organizational and
interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with
Cambridge/Boston and metropolitan school districts, community
organizations, and MIT faculty and staff. Research, writing, and
computing skills essential. Bilingual facility helpful. Should be
able to work occasional evening and weekend hours. MIT-00002052-N
