Marcelo,
Great topic...
I have been working with VR apps for about 6 years and the best
technology that I have found for the money is at
http://www.edimensional.com. They have a wireless "gaming" system for
about a hundred bucks.
While it is being marketed to game lovers of all sorts, any computer
application renders 3D imagery in real-time can be displayed with the
shutter-glass system they sale.
We have been tempted to use them in our museum, but are awaiting a
specific need before pulling them out of the closet. However, I use them
at home A LOT!!! Vacation pictures are a lot better in 3D.
This topic is rather large... I would be happy to answer some specific
questions you may have.
Thanks,
-Harry

Hello everyone,
We are in the midst of researching virtual-reality based exhibits and
immersive experiences throughout the Science Centers, and would
appreciate
your feedback on exhibits and projects that make a good use of
electronic
technology on educational products, with some elements of virtual and
augmented reality in exhibits.
We are designing an augmented-reality exhibit system to present
nanoscience and nanotechnology (but in principle it would work on any
topical science content) in the form of an adventure challenge, a sort
of
immersive game.
If possible, please send me your input on different institutions,
including contact information (including particular individuals whom I
may
speak with further, if you have it), and/or examples of nice projects
you
have seen in your ventures throughout different museums.
Thank you all for your assistance in advance. Much appreciated!
