ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************
The film, "The Day After Tomorrow," is scheduled for release on 5/28. This
movie depicts, in Hollywood fashion to be sure, the ramifications of climate
change/global warming. This movie will assuredly raise concerns, questions
and discussions about this topic among millions of people, and therefore
represents a tremendous opportunity for scientists and educators to reach a
very large audience with real science on this pressing environmental issue.
To be ready for the questions raised in the aftermath of this movie, a group
of science museums has been in conversation, and we are all in agreement
that we will best serve the public by working in collaboration. Activities
we are moving towards are: providing a space for scientists to speak on
climate change, subject-related floor demonstrations, press conferences, and
having appropriate museums linked from the movie's web site.
If any museums on this listserv are engaged in similar activities, and/or
want more details on what our museum group is doing, please let us hear from
you.
