Dear Anne, I don't think this is an all or none discussion :-)   I like
your term of gentle scheduling.  Certainly a mom of 3 at a time needs to do
something to bring some sort of routine to   her life or go crazy.  I've
always believed that babies (and families :-) thrive on some sort of
routine.  I cue fed my babies, but gently led them as toddlers into regular
bedtimes and mealtimes.  I think everyone is happier with some structure to
life, to know generally what to expect when.  We did spur of the moment
things too, but not as "daily routine."  Being flexible is one of the
greatest things I've learned in life.  Otherwise you miss a lot of neat
opportunities.  But structure gives a pattern to life that is also
