See my post last night. The TV had a man speaking live from Washington from the Consumer Products Commission. Our Belinda from NCT made the point that mothers have taken their babies into bed for 5 million years, that we should be looking at how to ensure this practice is as safe as possible, not forbidding it (just as we have tragedies when babies die in car accidents, and focus on making car design and car use safer, not banning babies from travelling by car). There was a horrible film of a dummy adult and a dummy baby (like a crash test dummy scenario) in an adult bed, and the adult dummy was shown rolling on to the baby's face. The presenter asked the Washington man - in a very silly way - why men, who do not breastfeed, felt they could tell mothers what to do about co-sleeping. The man said when his babies were small he *gave them a bottle and put them back to sleep in their cribs* Aggghhh ....and double Aggghhhh when the presenter said, 'well, there you go, the bottle's easier'. I think this story will continue here, too.
