Laurie asks, << What I want to know is what was the antidepressant shot that was given? Why can't we use that if it works so darn well in a 49 yo mom who has not ever bf? >> Well, I don't know for sure, but the phenothiazines are great at increasing prolactin levels. Compazine & Thorazine come to mind as tranquelizers that can cause spontaneous milk production. I remember that a physician told me that one of the "signs" of schizophrenia, noted in old mental hospitals, was that women would start producing milk. I guess it didn't occur to them that it wasn't the schizophrenia, but the Thorazine (or whatever) that was doing it. These, however, are not typical antidepressants, and I wouldn't recommend them. I'm surprised the woman was awake enough to breastfeed if that was what was used. Not to mention the potential effect on the monkey!
