Hello again all,

I need your help again.

As mentioned in my last post, I am currently working with a mom, delivered
twins three days ago. She only has one breast, following a unilateral
radical mastectomy 5 years ago. She would like to breastfeed her twins, but
is running into some difficulty.

She experienced what sounds like Reynauds syndrome with her first child
three years ago, but never received treatment. The Public Health Nurse at
the time contacted Jack Newman and received a recommendation for nifedipine.
However the GP here declined to prescribe it because he wasn't comfortable
with the side effect profile for this drug or with using it for such an
'unusual' problem.

This mom now has blisters on her nipple and is again experiencing a similar
blanching and pain during feeding primarily, but also some in between
feedings (coming out of the shower, for example).

She is interested in finding a treatment, particularly a topical one, as
that would minimize the overall absorption and the side effects.

Do you have any advice for us?
Thanks for your help

Joan
