Of course there is a place for formula - and the orphanage is just such a
place. This is why formula was invented, to save the lives of babies who
cannot get human milk for whatever reason. Am I cynical, or does it not sit
well with others of you also that the formula manufacturers will stick to
the code where it says no free formula to third world contries, but not "no
advertising or promotional giveaways in Australia?"
Deanne, does your daughter know whether the companies have been approached
directly by the orphanage, offering to BUY at a nominal price (a few cents
or dollars) formula from the company? A proposal, complete with some
photographs of the children (there's nothing like looking into the eyes of
those babies to make it real)
Maybe if we all had the full details, we could send some emails or letters
the way of the managers of the formula companies, suggesting that if they
truly have a conscience, then these children should have a chance for a
better life.
