i emailed joy privately but i will summarize here that i agree with her totally, but there are still instances in which there is no breastmilk nor access to the mother. the baby i keep occasionally is reluctant to nurse when he is hungry because i don't have much milk, and he doesn't come regularly enough to build up the supply. so, he will nurse when sleepy but not when hungry. he has started solids, but not enough to make up for milk. so, when his mother has not been able to pump enough milk (and that's another story, but i can't go over to her house and force her to pump, although i try), i have three choices, formula, cows milk, or a screaming baby. it is also better than the use of apple and other juices, which seems to be so prevalent that mothers think their babies "must" have juice every day. of course my children think they are allergic to water, too, if they can manage to cajole me into juice or milk. carol brussel IBCLC laura nevada lactation denver CO *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
