I also try to "test" the equipment out there so I can better explain it's use to a mother (if she needs it). I cannot live in fear of lawsuits (besides, the company would have to prove to me that their product was NOT inferior). <<If on the other hand you say something wonderful about a particular pump and you also sell that product(what I said in previous post), you are indirectly acting like a sales person for that company. >> Why not tell moms about a superior product? I would want to be informed of what most people find to be the best. Saves a lot of aggravation and pain (form using inferior products). <<Doctors may talk about a particular brand of drugs but usually he/she sends the client to a pharmacy to buy that particular drug. Usually the doctor does not directly benefit from that sale.>> No, he doesn't benefit from the sale but he/she is providing information about the integrity of drug X. Would you recommend a product that was proven more effective and withhold information about an inferior product or would you say "Gee, I don't want to be a sales person for that company or bash that one because they might sue me so I'll let the consumer find out for herself." <<She said to me that the pump couldn't be causing the soreness because it was the best pump available. She dismissed the soreness because she believed soreness is a normal condition when you breastfeed/pump.>> Sounds like she needed further education. Perhaps this is something she heard from a friend who used an inferior pump which DID cause soreness.
