Lactnetters,
I met a mother yesterday who was agonising about weaning her 10mo baby
because she needed serious surgery (hysterectomy) and her GYN told her
that breastfeeding "thickens the blood", thus increasing her risk of a
blood clot following surgery.

I couldn't convince her that this was nonsensical - it made sense, she
explained, because "breastfeeding sucks fluid out of the blood to make
milk". She claimed her GYN had told her this. Since I know this doctor,
I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were true. ARRRGH!

Btw, I apologise if I haven't answered any posts of late - still having
computer problems.
