I don't have any more information than what is in Hale but there is little information available on the LT effects of Depo as of now. I do recall in the early 1970's when my husband was in the Army medical corps, research was being conducted on the use and effects of Depo at the base we were at. I was asked if I'd like to participate. When I asked about the side effects, I was told "we don't really know yet but it may disturb your menstrual cycle for years." Since we did want to have more children in a few years, I declined. The published side effects that we ARE aware of are enough to make me not take it, breastfeeding or not. It's a decision that is very personal.
