First, you can use the info in Ruth Lawrence's text for this situation.
When mom feels awake enough to breastfeed post op its OK.
Even going through the anesthesia meds with the anesthesiologist you can get
him to tell you how fast the meds leave the body post op.

Secondly, he doesnt want sued when the kid doesn't go to Harvard ??? Easy to
look at it the other way around with hazards of artificial feeding.
Why are an anesthesiologist and an OB asked about what the baby can or can't
eat? Where is the baby's doc in this? (S)he is the one to answer this.
I had a patient whose mom had a similar situation a few weeks ago. She took
my advise over the surgeons.
